INK CORALS

These are the original ink corals I started my deep sea art journey with. They don’t exist like this anymore because they evolved over time.

MORE CORALS

They have gone from black and white ink corals into coloured ink corals. And they have been the inspiration of my paper original corals in oil paint.

If felt good to transform these black and white corals into coloured ones. Because I feel tropical art should be in colour.

The main reason I show them here on my website is I wanted you to get an insight in my artistic process. And to show you some artworks travel a long journey. Some of my ink drawings ‘stay’ ink drawings. But a lot of them get transformed into other art: mixed media collages or drawings in colour. Most of them serve as shape studies for other work in oil.

INSPIRATION FOR MY CORALS

It was the summer of 2018. There was a heat wave going on for several months. And the only thing I could think about was cooling down underwater. So I started browsing Pinterest, searching for underwater life. That’s when I discovered the beauty of corals and started drawing them.
